    MIHAJLO I. "MICHAEL" PUPIN - AUTOGRAPH LETTER SIGNED 08/15/1903 - HFSID 79567
    MIHAJLO "MICHAEL" PUPIN
The brilliant physicist and inventor writes letter to friend discussing her recent visit to his home in Norfolk, signs name in black ink
    Autograph letter signed:
    "Pupin"
in black ink. 3 pages integral leaf, 4½x7 folded. Meadow Farm, Norfolk, Connecticut. August 15, 1903. Addressed to a Ms. Lewis.
    In full:
"You are very kind to speak so enthusiastically about Norfolk, and about your visit here. I am delighted that you intend to try a longer visit. I shall see Mr. Maclane of the Hillhurst and do my best to get you proper accommodations. The hotel is apt to be pretty well crowded from the middle of July on up to the 1st of September; but we shall see. Vara received her gift from you today and was perfectly delighted with it. She is walking about with crop in hand all the time. You evidently caught on to the thing that she likes. She is almost as enthusiastic about riding as you are about fishing. How is the baby? Is she delighted with the prospect of going to Norfolk. You remember, of course, what I told you about the boathouse; it is at your disposal while you are in Norfolk. In fact, anything I have is at your disposal. The way you ran for Delmonico after your arrival at New York makes me believe that there was actually a great deal more of fact than fancy in Lewis' complaint about the feeding here. The next time I shall do better. When do you start for the west and when do you return? With kindest regards to your good husband and your good self I am very sincerely yours"
