Apollo 13 - Gold Kapton Foil Flown Around the Moon - On Beautiful COA - .95

Description

Genuine fragment of the gold Kapton foil that covered the outside of the Apollo 13 command module, Odyssey, as part of the thermal protection system. This fragment flew around the moon and back to earth as part of the Apollo 13 mission.
The fragment is attached to
a gorgeous 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" certificate of authenticity describing the history of the fragment. A blue rubber stamp giving a brief history of the Kapton fragment has been applied to the certificate. The fragment is in the center of this rubber stamp impression and is covered by a thin, clear, plastic, adhesive disk to protect the Kapton.
This fragment was left over from a larger piece used by a NASA employee to make a presentation display as you can see from the COA.
On the certificate is also a copy of the original parts removal tag indicating that the material to be removed is "Crew Compartment Heat Shield Mylar, C/M 109".
Each one of these fragments will measure about 1/4" on its longest side.
I've placed a ruler under the fragment to give you an idea of the size. The ruler is in one inch divisions.
