    Description

    For your consideration is A GI View of World War II As Told to and Edited by His Father.
    Some of the experiences and observations of P.F.C. Joe W. Staton Co. G. 18th Infantry.
    The title page is no longer attached and has stains - see photo.
    Chapter 1:  The President's Call to Arms.  This individual was rejected several times until he convinced a medical examiner to pass him and he headed off for Fort Lewis (Tacoma, Washington).
    Chapter 2:  The Hills and Deserts of California.  He was transported to California by a truck caravan for training and maneuvers.  After six weeks they returned to Fort Lewis, once again by a truck caravan.
    Chapter 3:  The Calm Before The Storm.  After a year of training he had 15 days of leave where he spent time with his parents.  I believe he was from Eugene, Oregon.
    Chapter 4:  Sunday - December 7.  Discusses the days after Pearl Harbor and how he didn't return in time to leave with his outfit.  He was threatened with dishonorable discharge, but the military never did get around to it.
    There are many more chapters - as shown in the photos.
    This is a fascinating read - he was even captured as a prisoner.  I am going to have to read it in its entirety, because it is spell-bounding.
