Saludos, he aquí una excelente pieza histórica en Bronce "viejo" autorizada por el municipio de San Juan, a la Medallic Art, en homenaje
a los 450 años de fundación de la ciudad capital. La misma presenta en alto relieve 5 viñetas o vistas: La puerta de San Juan, La Fortaleza, La catedral, La capilla del Cristo de la Salvación, y el Ayuntamiento (alcaldía). El reverso presenta el escudo capitalino. El borde es acanalado. Se desconocen cuántas piezas se hicieron o cuantas aún sobreviven. Tuve la suerte de conseguir un lote remanente de época. Como profesional tengo que admitir que las piezas parecen haber sido guardadas en las peores condiciones por muchísimos años, pues dan indicios de pequeños rayazos, golpesitos,  manchas, y/o coloración. Son sin embargo en mi opinión piezas bastante escazas de hallar, en fuerte bronce sólido, y mostrando una indiscutible calidad suprema de arte en alto relieve de la mas alta categoría de perfección artística, por la que bien le valdrá la pena invertir cada chavito en esta bella pieza.
Howdy, here we are offering you one (1) piece one wonderful piece, most of which was sold in San Juan, Puerto Rico, for the commemoration of its 450 years, being America's oldest European settlement still in use. It has reeded edge. Its obverse shows 5 views:
1)The wall entrance of Saint John -only one remaining of 4 original doorways into the walled city-
2) Governor's Palace of Saint Catherine, locally known as "La Fortaleza" because its two towers at the back makes it look like the orignal castle it once was.
3) The Saint John Cathedral, said to have been designed to be built in Guayama, but that somehow its drawings got exchanged with those of another town church while in route from Spain, and ended up in San Juan. Thus the smaller city of Guayama proudly braggs of having the biggest church built in Puerto Rico during the Spanish era, a true cathedral fit for a capital city!
4) The San Juan City Hall, a must see for any visitor, right in front of the main square (to keep it original while growing, nowadays most buildings around this square, though different, are all offices of the City Hall, connected thru their walls)
5) Chapel of Christ of Salvation, erected right at a cliff that ended a long street where horse competitions used to take place. The son of a young wealthy man ran once, the horse getting out of control while speeding; A woman cried outloud for God to save the young man, and miraculously he ended up in the dirt right by the cliff, while the horse jumped down to its fate 50 feet down.
It was commisioned by the municipality of SJ to Medallic Art -when in NYC-.
These were ONLY sold in Puerto Rico, and its mintage in Bronze unknown. and is difficult to estimate how many are still around, but is supposed to be quite scarce. I was lucky to be offered a small lot from a contact who got them from family members of a dead collector who were in need of cash. They show they were improperly handled and stored for many years under poor condition. Thus they will exhibit minor scratches / small dents / coloration and / or staining. Still, they are pretty scarce neat pieces, hefty quality bronze, and a superb masterful skilled high relief medallic artistry showing off glamorously,  way better in person than in photo, worthy of every penny invested.
